How This Website / Approach Works

This site is built around two main things:

-
A home for my music and videos—original songs, covers, and productions.
-
A structured, practical approach to developing a daily guitar practice habit.
Why I Built This

I wanted to create a place that lays out everything I’ve learned about guitar practice over the past 30 years. This is the approach I wish I’d had when I started, and it’s freely available for anyone to use.
I’m not going to claim this is a revolutionary, never-before-seen method that will turn you into a guitar virtuoso, it's not. The reality is, we’re drowning in guitar tutorials—YouTube videos, online courses, books—many of them excellent. But with so much information, it’s easy to get stuck, find the right level that helps you progress leaving you unsure where to start or what to focus on.

Most of these resources assume you already have the motivation and discipline to practice consistently. What’s often missing is a clear system for actually building that daily habit. That’s where this site comes in.

History, Granular Guitar Habits & ‘Get a Guitar Habit’

In 2010 instead of mining bitcoin (hindsight!) I was trying to understand more about structured guitar practice and beating plateaus. I posted my guitar practice regime to reddit (here) and have remained mildly fascinated by the art and science of effective practice ever since.
During the COVID lockdown, I read Atomic Habits by James Clear, and it helped confirm what I understood about habits as related to guitar practice. I’ve taken key lessons from the book and broken them down into something I call Granular Guitar Habits—a useful reference and interesting read into understanding habits as related to guitar pracrtice.

Alongside that, I’ve created 'Get a Guitar Habit', where I share my insights, analogies, and the psychology behind building a consistent practice routine.

The 66-Day Bootcamp

Everything I share here is free, but I also offer a more hands-on approach for those who want extra accountability. That’s where the 66-Day Bootcamp comes in.

To start, I’m running this as an experiment with just 10 people—offering the full 66-day structured habit-building program for £50 (payment can also be in your local currency, BTC, LTC, ETH, and other established cypto currencies) fully refundable if it doesn’t work for you. It includes daily contact and video progress reviews to keep you on track. You can read more about the bootcamp here

This is all about testing whether my approach can help others build a solid, lasting guitar practice habit. If you’re interested, get in touch.

*Please note whilst all of the info on this website can be understood by beginner guitarists the 66 day bootcamp is more aimed at people who already have at least a basic grasp of guitar playing. Whilst ability can be difficult to exactly measure the very initial learning curve of playing guitar is unfortunately steep, progress after this can also often regularly plateau. My experience, and the approach outlined, suggests structured, daily guitar practice is the most consistent way of getting better and beating plateau's.

You can read more about me and my musical history here, you can jump over to my current musical endeavours here. All chapters for Granular Guitar Habits start here and more details on the bootcamp are on the following page, click here.
These hopefully help demonstrate that this website is not just Artificial Intelligence (AI) slop. As with guitar practice itself I remain fascinated by the development of AI and it has been amazingly helpful in developing the majority of pictures and some of the research for this website. However, playing guitar, getting better at playing guitar and musical appreciation all remain very human things to do. I want to try and harness AI insight into peoples guitar playing habits to help motivate them to do more.. the first step towards that is the understanding learner achetypes (here) and the associated questionnaire (here)
